Writers don’t just write, they also speak about their work on book tours, interviews or in social settings. Knowing how to read for an audience, present your own story and discuss your writing is a skill seldom addressed.
This training day will address the personal and professional presentation needs of writers whether novelists, academics or bloggers and equip and strengthen the participants’ abilities to present their work effectively. Training is not theoretical. Participation, contribution and reflection are essential to the learning process.
Participants will be filmed and will view their presentations during the session.
In this seminar, we will look at some ideas for structure and form that can work for beginners to experienced writers.
Topics will include:
Developing characters with their own distinct voices
Use and inclusion of stage directions
Are the setting, props and costumes important?
Incorporating music
Editing and rewriting
