Why work with me?

Picture
I bring my deep editorial insight and a kind supportive approach to bear when helping you understand and embrace the process of writing work you're proud of and want to share with loved ones or with the world.

First of all,
I identify your strengths, and through editorial feedback, tips, and guidance, I encourage playful experimentation to broaden your skillset so you keep improving your writing. In addition, I help you set achievable goals, and offer accountability and problem-solving ideas along the way.

I offer a haven for your stories. A safe space to explore and create is especially important given the current climate of war, political volatility, and antisemitism.

Testimonials

'When I first came to coaching sessions with Nadia, writing a book was a fantasy. Over a few sessions, it became a dream, and now it's an attainable goal.'
-
Freddy Freundlich, author of Born on the Right Side of the Tracks

'Nadia, you have this deep belief in my project that encourages me. You’re always finding me new exciting avenues to go down, and the fact you get excited, gets me to write more.'
- David Schwartz,
Notes on Notes: Stories of Music and the Human Experience

'Tonight we're celebrating my first win. My essay is being published by the prestigious journal First Things! I can't thank you enough for helping me get to this point. If there is one thing I know for certain, it's that this would never have happened without you. You are a superb professional and deeply talented writer, but you are also a deeply caring and supportive person, and I'm forever indebted to you for being all three.'
- Marla Braverman, her essays and fiction have been published in First Things and Jewish Fiction, and she has been awarded "honorable mention" in the Lehrhaus 2024 Short Story Contest and the 2024 Moment Magazine-Karma Foundation Short Fiction Contest.

What does working together look like?

Our work together is tailored to your specific needs, goals, and time constraints. You may want to meet on Zoom weekly, fortnightly or monthly. We will meet to discuss your schedule and what will help you best and structure our work together accordingly.

I've coached some clients to get back on the wagon pitching and submitting their work and guided others to write consistently and break through fears that were holding them back.

I've mentored clients through the process of editing and refining their short stories, essays, novels, and memoirs from raw notes to manuscripts ready for publication.

"Book therapist" option:
This is for you if you'd like someone to hold your hand as your write your book, help you get unstuck, bring you back when you go down rabbit-holes, help you with structure your narrative and provide accountability.

We meet for half an hour a week or one hour every two weeks. You bring what you're working on and we discuss your writing and any questions or issues you have on the spot. (USD 900 for the 3-month renewable package).

"Book mentor" option:
This is for you if you're writing stories you'd like edited for publication or you've produced a first draft but it's "not there yet" and you need guidance on structure and/or writing craft.

We meet once a month for an hour to discuss revisions to your fiction or memoir/essay (up to 4,000 words) sent in advance for me to review (USD 1800 for the 3-month renewable package).

'Today I had the pleasure of a coaching session in writing from Nadia Jacobson of WriteSpace Jerusalem. Nadia immediately had me thinking about my writing in a different way and inspired me to continuing growing as a writer. The hour was hugely productive--and I wrote! I am so excited to see where this hour takes me. If you are looking to take your writing to a different level or simply for advice and direction, I encourage you to contact Nadia.' - B.B.B.
