Script & Story Surgery
Full-Day Seminar Date
May 9, 09:30-15:15
Do you have a scene or storyline that you are working on? Is there a story, fiction or nonfiction, that you think might work as a performance? Is there a section or concept that isn’t quite where you want it to be?
Bring the story you're excited about or the idea that seems stuck and let’s propel it onwards together in a script and story surgery. This workshop is open to writers and those willing to receive feedback! This model comes from Rachel’s involvement as a writer/director with Sunday Surgery http://www.dysthelexi.com/sundaysurgery/) a monthly development workshop for film, theatre and radio scripts, bringing together writers, actors and directors to work collaboratively on new writing in order to move scripts forward. The workshop entails the sharing of participants' scripts and other writing, and the questions that they may have about their piece. Rachel will facilitate the group in considering our response to the questions and the work, and help each writer to find options and alternatives in their own voice. |
Rachel Creeger is a prolific director of British new writing, most recently the tour and Edinburgh run of Mancunian Rhapsody by Debra Tammer. Personal writer/director credits include An Insomniac's Guide To Ambulances, Paying Attention (DYSPLA Festival), Staffroom and many commissioned plays for children. Rachel is a dramaturge and regularly works with writers and performers on developing their material. As Time2Shine Productions she delivers school workshops and helps community groups devise original theatre from concept to performance. Part of the team behind the awards nominated Othello Peckham and Hamlet Peckham, Rachel hosts monthly comedy night ‘Upstairs at the Adam and Eve!’ in North London and is currently working on her new play Our Still Waters.
