Writing from the
Ordinary You're sitting at your desk, tapping your pen, staring at the blank screen. How do you start? What do you choose to write about? How do you "find" a poem? This intensive workshop will focus on writing from the ordinary - using the domestic and natural spaces around us - as well as turning to other poets to be our teachers and guides. We will do exercises to sharpen our "poetic eye" and examine how others have tackled these questions before us.
DetailsMinimum/Maximum Participation: 8/14
Cost per seminar: 450 NIS if paid in full two weeks before the seminar; 500 NIS subsequently. Location: Talbiya, Jerusalem (more details upon registration). Registration: Sign up and we will be in touch. Payment can be made via bank transfer, cheque/check or cash (by special arrangement). Cancellation policy: If you cancel within one week of the workshop and your place cannot be filled, you will be asked to cover the total cost of the seminar. BioJane Medved is the poetry editor of The Ilanot Review, an Israeli international journal of creative writing in English. Her full- length poetry collection

Writing from the Extraordinary
What do you do when you have that "big idea" that slips away every time you try to corner it? How do you crack open a large topic and make it immediate and real? In this workshop, we will practice the art of making the general personal.
We will explore how to pluck the singular, original voice out of the common idea. |
