Invitation to The Ilanot Review Launch
The Ilanot Review is an international journal based in Israel, publishing a variety of poetry, fiction, nonfiction and genres in between. On July 5, we’re launching our "Fiction Only" issue with a writing workshop and a reading.
Thursday July 5th
18.45 – Doors Open
19.00- 20.30 – Writing Workshop (fee applicable)
20:30-21:00 – Wine & Cheese Reception (free)
20:30-21:00 – Reading of a selection of work from Fiction Only (free)
Workshop: Crafting Memorable Characters
The art of crafting memorable characters is a challenge to experienced and emerging writers alike. In this 1.5-hour workshop, led by guest editor and novelist Jessamyn Hope, along with fiction editors Nadia Jacobson and Janice Weizman, we’ll practice characterization techniques through writing exercises aimed at bringing out what is most distinctive and vital in your characters.
***Minimum donation for the workshop is 150 NIS per person***
While editors donate their time reading the hundreds of submissions each issue for free, there is a website to maintain and program fees to pay. All proceeds from the workshop contribute to The Ilanot Review’s operating costs.
RSVP to guarantee your spot in the workshop: [email protected]
Workshop and readings will take place at PICO Jerusalem, Po’alei Tzedek 2, 4th floor (corner of Pierre Koenig), Talpiyot, Jerusalem.
