Finding the Funny: How To Write Comedy

Full-Day Seminar
May 8, 09:30-15:15

Rachel Creeger: 'Having run a comedy gig for years, I have seen acts who have fantastically funny material which they can't successfully deliver, others who have a hilarious personality to coast by on but thin writing, and the special few who have the magic combination of outstanding writing and awesome performance.

As a theatre director specialising in writing and developing comedic pieces, I've enjoyed helping others hone their work to engineer the response that they want. In this seminar, we will look at how to craft comedic writing in a variety of formats from jokes to stories to sketches to topical comment.'

Topics will include:
Exercises that excise the funny from factual information
Comedic structure in writing
Joke styles and why they work
Finding your comic voice

Participant Feedback:
I attended the very first seminar yesterday, on writing humour with Rachel Creeger, and walked away inspired, with valuable tools.
