Free your mind…
… to find your words
From an early age we are taught that there is a correct and incorrect way to speak, to write, to organize ideas. One of the greatest challenges of writing poetry is to escape that internal editor and allow ourselves to be surprised.
Join award-winning poet Jane Medved in a series of four workshops in which we will examine various techniques to get “ahead of our conscious minds.” We will practice the art of startling ourselves, study how other writers have achieved this and experiment with different ways to outwit our rational brain and escape into the unexpected.
Instructor BiosJane Medved is the poetry editor of The Ilanot Review, an Israeli international journal of creative writing in English. Her chapbook, Olam,Shana,Nefesh, was released by Finishing Line Press in 2014. Recent work has appeared in Cimarron Review, Spoon River Poetry Review, Tinderbox Review, Tupelo Quarterly, New American Writing, Poet Lore and Poetry East |
