Angst of the Young Adult
YA Novel Writing
Between teenage angst…
… and optimism
What makes you angry?
What can you do to initiate a change and make life better?
Writing for young adults is about finding the balance between teen angst and optimism.
Join award-winning writer Anna Levine in a series of four two-hour workshops in which we will study the essential elements involved in constructing a young adult novel. We will look at character/dialogue, setting, plot and the nuts and bolts of publishing and marketing. Each class will focus on one of these elements during which we will read excerpts from well-known young adult authors, write in-class exercises and review take-home assignments.
